TalkLocalAI Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 September 2026

TalkLocalAI is an offline voice translator. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: your conversations stay on your phone.

Data we collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. TalkLocalAI has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of our own.

Microphone and voice

The app uses your microphone only while you hold a talk button. Audio is processed to produce text and a translation, then discarded. Audio is never saved to disk and never sent to us.

With the Device voice option, speech recognition is performed by your phone's built-in Android speech recognizer. Depending on your device and its settings, Android may process that audio on-device or via the recognizer provider's servers (for example, Google). This is governed by your device maker's and Google's privacy policies, not ours. The Gemma voice and Speech pack options run entirely on your phone and send nothing anywhere.

Translation and text-to-speech

All translation runs on-device using ML Kit or Gemma models. Spoken playback uses your phone's built-in text-to-speech engine.

Internet use

The app connects to the internet only to download optional language and speech models (from Google, GitHub, and Hugging Face) when you request them in Manage models. These downloads contain no information about you.

Conversation log and settings

Your conversation history and preferences are stored only on your device. Delete them at any time from within the app, or by uninstalling it.

Children

TalkLocalAI is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
